A LITTLE ABOUT US ...

Established in 1994, the Australian Psychic Expo remains to this day very much a family business. Jointly owned and operated by John and Konnie Gold, who with their four children moved up to Queensland’s Gold Coast from Sydney in 1993, the expo has seen few changes during this time.

Upon arrival on the Gold Coast John and Konnie opened what was then the largest and most extensive new-age bookshop in the region. Konnie’s New Age Bookshop in Broadbeach quickly became known as the place to have a psychic reading, pick up a few crystals or just wile away the hours browsing the huge array of books on offer.

In January of 1994 they held their first event: The Gold Coast New Age of Aquarius Expo. It was enormously successful, running annually for the next 10 years. However, in late 1994 the first Australian Psychic Expo was held at Broadbeach’s Conrad Jupiters Casino, and this event paved the way for what was to follow.

What did follow was an expo that has stood the test of time, and continues to gain strength year after year. The Australian Psychic Expo now stages in excess of thirty events annually, from Tweed Heads in northern NSW, up through the Sunshine Coast, Central Queensland, Far North Queensland and all the way up to Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Since the expo's inception back in 1994 John and Konnie's eldest daughter Tammy has been the public face with her catchcry “Fantabulous” in the well-known television commercials. However two new faces have appeared on our screens in recent years. They are Tammy's eldest daughter, 15-year-old Star, and 6-year-old Ebony, her youngest.

Family matriarch Konnie, however, has been responsible for the success of the expos at grass roots level. Everywhere the Australian Psychic Expo travels she is sought out by patrons seeking her advice about which psychic reader they should see. Of course, patrons who return year after year have their favourite psychics, but for those who have not been before Konnie is always on hand to offer friendly and professional advice.

Konnie’s ability to match client with reader is a key element of the expos. Konnie believes that not all psychics suit everybody, but with years of experience and concern for her patrons she is able to help them make the right choice.

With patronage increasing year after year the future of the Australian Psychic Expo is clear. John and Konnie have no intention of slowing down, or becoming “corporate”. They believe that for patrons to keep returning year after year it is imperative to retain that personal touch.

Besides, they know no other way.
